Proud Sponsor of the NY Stallion Service Auction

Stallion Service Auction Contract
Dear Stallion Owner:
The New York Stallion Service Auction Committee would like to invite you to nominate your breeding stallion to our 2013 Service Auction by donating a breeding contract. Our goal is to raise as much prize money as possible for the SSA Sweepstakes classes at the NY Regional. In order to achieve that goal, we reserve the right to limit participation to those stallions that the committee feels will bring the highest bids. Although you are not required to guarantee the minimum bid for your stallion, if you do, your stallion is more likely to be selected to participate.
As always, there is no fee for any stallion's service contract to be included in the NY Stallion Service Auction. By participating in the New York SSA, each stallion owner/agent is given excellent advertising opportunities. We maintain a beautiful website and are on Facebook. Each stallion owner/agent may submit pictures of their stallion, along with pictures of his notable offspring and a descriptive write up, that are posted on your stallion’s own page. This page also includes the opportunity for email contact and a link to your farm’s website. Please take a look. In 2013, we will be the first stallion service auction to offer LIVE, online bidding through the services of DV Auction. We are hopeful that this service will increase the amounts bid. We also do promotional ads in all of the major Morgan publications. This is a great opportunity for stallions just starting their career to establish a name for themselves. For stallions who are well known, this is an opportunity to improve the breed. With phone bidding we can accommodate interested breeders from the entire country. Although the stallion owner does not receive any money from the breeding, it also doesn’t cost you anything, as the mare owner pays the collection or storage fees and shipping.
The NY SSA offers 3 Sweepstakes classes at the NY Regional Championship show for ALL offspring of the stallions whose services are sold at our Stallion Service Auction. Proceeds from the auction, plus any accumulated interest, is paid out as prize money in the Sweepstakes classes. Starting in 2012 ~ $5,000 added bonus money in the Weanling Sweepstakes class! Only owners of donated stallions and successful bidders are eligible to compete for the bonus money. The bonus money will be evenly divided amongst all eligible weanlings who place in the top 10. If all of the Top Ten weanlings are ELIGIBLE, the minimum bonus is $500. In 2012, the Weanling Sweepstakes winner took home $2761 in prize money plus $714 in bonus money for a total of $3475. There are two performance classes for 4 year olds and in 2012 the winner of each class took home $5900, the reserve took home $3000, and the eighth place took home $200! Of course, the more money we take in at the auction, the more prize money there will be.
In addition, the nomination fee for the stallion is paid in full by the NY SSA when a foal is nominated to the NYSMHS Futurity, giving your stallion’s offspring ANOTHER chance to win prize money. AND, if that offspring is either Champion or Reserve in the Futurity classes, YOU will receive the prize money that goes to the nominator of the stallion. This is an incentive to the members of the New York State Morgan Horse Society to buy from the auction, with the potential for prize money for you.
The 2013 Auction will be held on February 9th at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, NY with educational programs, food, and drink for those in attendance. The Turning Stone is a full-service resort, spa, and casino with accommodations and dining options for a wide range of budgets, a SportPlex with indoor golf, tennis, and pool, a gourmet restaurant, and a nightclub with a Friday night comedy show, in addition to the casino. You or your agent will have the opportunity to have a promotional display and talk with breeders about your stallion during the cocktail party prior to the auction. If you have never attended the NY Stallion Service Auction, it’s an opportunity that you won’t want to miss. Alternatively, if you can’t make it to NY in February, if you provide the materials, we will set up a display table at the auction, promoting your stallion for you. We plan to show a PowerPoint presentation of all of our stallions and their offspring during the cocktail hour preceding the auction and will show your horse and his offspring while his contract is being auctioned.
If you have questions, feel free to contact any committee member by clicking on the Contact Us tab. When you are ready to commit, we have provided a contract for you to download. It may be filled in on your computer (making it more legible) printed and mailed. There will be a sales catalog for the 2013 Auction. Therefore, we need to receive your contract no later than January 1st. Of course, the sooner we receive your commitment, the sooner we will start promoting your stallion!
